Meet the Doctor
Dr. John E. Moenning – Retired
Dr. Moenning grew up in Greenfield, Indiana. He attended college at Miami of Ohio and Indiana University, where he received his undergraduate degree in Biology and Chemistry. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1983. He finished a General Practice Residency at Indiana University in 1984. He completed a three-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Indiana University Medical Center and Methodist Hospital. In 1988, he received his Master of Science degree from the Indiana University School of Dentistry, where he focused his training on orthognathic (jaw) surgery research. He also completed a fellowship at the Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas in 1988.
He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and has published more than 20 journal articles regarding various aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and one book chapter on waste anesthetic gases. He has served on the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Committee on Practice Management and is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Indiana University School of Dentistry. Dr. Moenning has written articles and lectured on nitrous oxide in Dentistry and was awarded a patent for a new nitrous oxide delivery mask system called the Safe Sedate Mask. He also has 4 additional patents and has helped in the development of the ISO-Gard Mask from Teleflex Medical for the Post Anesthetic Care Unit in hospitals.
Dr. Moenning enjoys running, hiking, fishing, swimming, and biking. He and his wife have three children and three granddaughters.
Dr. Moenning retired from active practice on 12/31/21.
