John W. Pruitt, D.D.S., M.D.

Oral Surgeon John W. Pruitt, D.D.S., M.D. of Indianapolis, INDr. Pruitt went to North Central High School in Indianapolis and received his Bachelor of Arts degree, Cum Laude, from DePauw University. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, Summa Cum Laude, from the Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1989. He earned his M.D. degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Urbana-Champaign in 1992, and was awarded the Thomas C. Reeves Memorial Award by his fellow medical students as the doctor they would turn to if they themselves needed care. He completed a preliminary year in Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Urbana-Champaign. He was Chief Resident for two of the six years of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training he received at the Carle Foundation Hospital and Carle Clinic Association in Urbana, Illinois.

He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He is a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honor dental society and the Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society. He is on the Active Staff at Methodist Hospital and St. Francis Hospitals and is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Indiana University School of Dentistry. 

Dr. Pruitt’s areas of interest in which he has lectured and published include anesthesia, maxillofacial infections, orthognathic surgery and bone grafting. He has volunteered on five international medical mission projects and was recognized as a 2002 Dental Volunteer of the Year at the Gennesaret Free Clinic in Indianapolis.

Dr. Pruitt's personal interests include travel and playing keyboards. He and his wife, Elliott, have five children: Claire, Evan, Sophia, Francesca and Harrison.
